Slowly by Slowly

I recently read the story of the Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge who in 2018 shattered the marathon world record. When he was asked about the secret to his success he said that the key is not to overwork himself, not trying to be incredibly great all the time, and that he very rarely pushes himself above 80%. Instead his key strengths are his consistency and patience. He lets things happen in their own time instead of pushing, and his coach says that he makes progress “slowly by slowly.” Kipchoge is known for his smooth stride and his smile on his face whilst running. He radiates ease. Ease is often a by- product of patience and presence, and it manifests when you are fully in a moment, letting things happen on their own time.

Just like Kipchoge has his marathons we have the Nash Collective. The first one of our endeavors that sits deep and patiently within us. We will plod along at our pace, learning new skills and sharing our pieces with the world. “Slowly by slowly.” Hope to inspire you to perhaps try the same? Because when it comes down to it, to quote Brad Stulberg, I have yet to meet someone who wants their headstone to read, “She rushes.”
